Mealworms: A Little Treat My Chicks Go Crazy For

I’ve been raising chicks longer than I care to count, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that a happy chick is a healthy chick. One of their favorite treats? Freeze Dried Mealworms.

Now, I don’t mean to spoil them (well, maybe just a little), but a few mealworms here and there give them a good boost of protein—and let me tell you, they come running when they hear that scoop rattle. It’s the kind of excitement that makes you smile.

I usually toss a small handful in the brooder and let them scratch around for it. It keeps ’em busy, and they seem to grow strong and feather out nice and quick. Just don’t overdo it—too many treats and they’ll skip their regular feed. And make sure they’ve got some grit, or those little bellies won’t thank you.
